As Caversham Arts Trail is not on this year, many artists in Caversham feel that they would still like to show their new work and engage with the community. Especially as we have something to celebrate in our community. Artist Sherrie Tuhy has opened Art Jam Studio in Caversham. 4 Open Studios is on. 15 artists and 2 poets will put on a show with activities for you to enjoy. The 4 Open Studios will be on 20th and 21st of May. The venues are open from 11am -5pm daily across Caversham with easy bus route.
Venue 1 : 63 St. Peter’s Avenue, RG4 7DP, you can expect to see painting and drawing by Mary Phelan, stone sculpture and assemblage by Roger Smalley, sculptural ceramic garden pots by Jacqueline Fitzjohn, contemporary functional baskets by Christine Brewster and Sherrie Tuhy will also bring her vision of her new Art Jam Studio to the venue. Don’t forget there will be teas on offer in aid of Sue Ryder. The Sunday special will be poet Robin Thomas’ open mic section at 3pm.
From venue 1 crossing the park will be Venue 2: 21 Hewett Avenue, RG4 7EA, there you will find Therese Wicks’ stained and fused glass as well as Nichola Pitt’s contemporary ceramic tableware and accessories.
Venue 3: 14 Kidmore Road, RG4 7LU is a full house. You will find new & recycled mixed media jewellery by Barbara Goodburn, gelli printing, collage and stitch work by Jane Greiner, Silk Paintings by Stephanie Gay, contemporary silver jewellery, soaps and potions by Matthew Hitch, hand built and smoke fired ceramics by Debbie Page and Roger Smalley’s small work. Poet Victoria Pugh will hold an open mic section on Saturday at 3pm
Venue 4: 134 Hemdean Road. RG4 7ST, will display batik, textiles and oil paintings by Nina O’Connell, sculptural collages by Barry Wall and one-off handwoven scarves and wraps by Gloria Pitt. Nina will also host “Art for Children” for little artists to have a go during the open studios.
